Finally...

It looks like we are going to have great weather this weekend - perfect for an Easter celebration at Auntie Cindys. Is everyone going to be there?

Me being crafty!

So I am probably the least crafty person ever but I have been wanting to create some wall hangings for my bedroom. My bed is on a really big wall with nothing else and so I wanted something to break it up. I decided to make some wall hangings (about a year ago) and finally executed my project last weekend.

It was quick, cheap, and super easy. I LOVE the way it came out...what do you think? (The picture is from my phone so bad quality, but you get the idea)




And the best part is you can get a similar set of prints from a store for $369 - and I spent less than $100! It may be dorky, but I am very proud of my first crafty adventure :)

What did you do to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend?

The weather last weekend was awful and caused thousands of power outages resulting in me working a lot of hours last week. Dan did great filling in as SuperDad but we still had a lot of time to make up. So here is how we enjoyed the beautiful weather. Friday afternoon I picked up Claire from daycare and went straight to the park to meet friends. Claire was dressed up in her Clemson gear, hoping the Tigers would pull out a win in the tournament (which they didn't) But Claire looked cute anyways. We ran around the park for 2+ hours, swinging....

and sliding...
and running, and running, and running.... On a side note - I love her little pig tails, but you will probably never see them again because I could never do this and Dan does her hair in the mornings. That usually entails throwing in a barette and bringing hair ties to daycare where the ladies love to do her hair.
What good is a trip to the park without sharing your snacks? Claire was carefully handing out the fruit loops. All the girls on the bottom step are the ones she celebrated her birthday party with. Everyone says Claire looks soooooo much older, I guess from this picture I would agree.
Dad read a book to Claire, Dog-dog, and baby. It must have been a really good book because Claire slept until 10AM Saturday morning! :-)
We had some errands to run on Saturday so we headed out shortly after Claire woke up. First stop - Dunkin Donuts, where Claire inhaled an egg and cheese wrap along with part of Dads donut. We grabbed a spot on the bench where Claire was able to eat and watch the buses go by, while proudly announcing to everyone that she had Elmo on her shirt.
Next stop - the Penny Arcade where Claire enjoyed pushing the change into the machine - all $144 of it. And, Little Miss Independent picked out her own shoes yesterday
Our goal was to get something notarized which finally got done after stopping in 3 banks and 2 real estate offices. While we killed time waiting for the notary, Claire ran around the pier.

She did so good all day walking holding hands -They must work on that at daycare.
We goofed around with Dad
Then we stopped at the library, had a meltdown when we got home, and took a good nap. It was enough so she was well rested for a dinner out. We went out for sushi/asian and Claire was well behaved for the most part. We ordered her sweet potato sashimi which is just fried sweet potato on rice ($1). She devoured that and then ate more rice and some chicken. What a wonderful day we had! Today was not so exciting, but Claire did sleep until 9, pee-pee in the potty, and she got a new slide and lots of new clothes. As soon as she wakes up we will set the slide up in the backyard and hope that provides lots of fun through the summer.

Everyone must be busy - the blog has been very slow lately! So I figured I would share 2 pictures from last weekend. Since everyone was home to shower Kate on she and Rob's recent marriage, we went to Susan's for the annual St. Patrick's day dinner. Family Weekend 2010

I wanted to get a dialogue started about Family Weekend 2010. I am really looking forward to it, and am curious if anyone else is? Anyone have any ideas about the when and where for this year. Lets get moving so we can make sure as many people can come as possible!

Sometimes it's just not your day............

So, we've got probably about a foot of snow so far from this storm and I'm home with Claire since her daycare is closed along with all the other schools in Hudson County. But Meredith as works for the power company, she has to go in. And as luck would have it, she is on "storm duty" this week, so she has to work 7a-7p up in Westchester. I'll let her e-mail to me explain the rest of the story...........

So, what did you accomplish before 7:12 this morning? Not even sure I can explain the morning I've had, but I'll try (maybe you need a Friday laugh)! Last night Claire was exhausted so she went to bed early and the house was quiet by 745. Dan and I watched the Olympics and American Idol and I was asleep by 845ish. Just after 9 I heard Dan say - Meredith, your company phone is ringing, then the house phone rang. Lucky me gets to be on call for storm duty once every 8 weeks and don't you know I'm on call this week. I was told to report to Westchester for a 7A - 7P shift on Friday. So I wake up long enough to find the address where I'm supposed to go and write out directions. I decide to take my personal car up as opposed to the company car so I don't have to leave much earlier to catch the trains and bus to my office in the city where my company car is parked. Working for a utility there aren't snow days and we are expected to be at work at 7AM - no matter what! I decide to get up at 445 to ensure I have PLENTY of time to get where I need to be. I sleep alright and am out the door at 510 to find Hoboken clearly missed the memo about the snow because they haven't even plowed the main street. But I get to the car to find I can't get the doors open to get the scraper. I'm trying to clear the snow to get to the door handle and don't you know I fight for a good 10 minutes before getting the front passenger side door open. All the snow I cleared went right into my pocketbook so everything was soaked. I wanted to start the car to warm things up but I was on the passenger side and needed to reach the clutch. So I jump over the seats, start the car and then begin cleaning the snow which was process in itself. Get thing cleared, sit down in the driver seat only to notice I hadn't put the windshield wipers down, they were still sticking straight out. Get out of the car again, fix the wipers, come back to a driver seat full of snow and finally rock my way out of the parking spot. Now all I need is coffee and a donut to start the day on the right foot. Stop at DD, parking in the middle of the street, drop my keys on the snow and bury them only to walk into DD to find they have ZERO donuts!! Are you kidding me? Oh well, coffee will do, I can always eat when I get to my 12 hour storm duty shift. As I am driving away I notice the driver side windshield wiper isn't moving so I pull over to make sure all the snis cleared. No go - the windshield wiper on the driver side is broken - Sweet! It is now 550 so I call to let them know I might be a little late to storm duty and decide to take my personal car to the office and grab my company car for storm duty. Ever drive in the snow without wipers? As I near the office the phone rings letting me know daycare is closed. Oh how sorry I feel that Claire and Dan are going to be home all day. Get to the office and have to clean off my company car, get settled and off I go. It's 633 now so I should be where I'm going by 715ish. How, you ask, do I now have time to update you on this lovely morning that I've had? I got a flat tire on the company car and am sitting on the side of the road in the Bronx, where I've been for almost an hour, waiting on someone to come pick me up. How I would really love a donut right now!!

If that doesn't work then I'm not sure what will. This may or may not be Dan and Andrea during a pub crawl this past weekend - we can't be too sure since they are incognito. Happy (almost) Thursday!

Our Lazy Snow Day!!

As much as I would love to say Claire and I enjoyed our snow day outside playing in the snow, I am recovering from the stomach bug and that wasn't possible. So we had as much fun as we could while staying inside and being lazy so Mommy could rest. Here's a recap...

I was awoken by Claire running into the bedroom and screaming "Mama...it's..." then she pointed to the snowman on her PJ's. Yes, Claire, that's snow - how about you go back to bed so Mommy can sleep. Yeah, right.
So we resorted to playing before Dan left. Dad puts on his hat, Claire needs to put on hers. I don't like the hat either and I told Claire that. Dan said, Claire, tell mama Psssssh and Claire ran around the house this morning say Pssssh (hand motion and all). Guess it's time to watch what we're saying.

Or a barrette will do - that's how we roll...PJs and barrettes while eating sugar donuts. I should have known better
After watching an Elmo video and having a snack, we took a 3 hour nap. Claire must have known I was tired, she never sleeps that long. She had lunch around 3 and then played by the mirror. Oh, the simple things that make her happy. She laughed at herself...

laughed at herself some more... (and yes, I know the mirror needs to be cleaned!)
Then we resorted to one of Claires favorite activities these days - watching the buses drive by. Mama - it's bus... Dada- it's bus... Aun-a - it's bus. What a wonderful activity :-)

Watched our Little People tractor roll across the floor
and finally got to the good stuff that comes with snow days....we made hot chocolate.
There was only one bad thing about the hot chocolate. In case you didn't notice, we never got out of our PJs today. Claire got chocolate on her PJs so that means she will have to change clothes today. It is OK to change directly from one set of PJs to the other, right?

I did also have the chance to finish this book which I would highly recommend. If you've never read Nicholas Sparks before you are missing out, but this especially was a good one.

She is Finally Here!

Ms. Madelynn Marie Caron was born Sunday at 312 morning. She was a whopping 9 pounds 2 ounces and was 22 inches long. She is absolutely beautiful and Tommy, Sarah and Emma could not be happier.
