Happy Birthdays and Anniversary

Two special guys get a Happy Birthday shout out. Yesterday was Dan's birthday and today is Uncle Rays birthday. We hope you both celebrated and had a wonderful day with friends and family. As Claire would say Ah-Bo-Day (I will try to post a video later) .

Clearly, Dan is trying to live up his last year in his 20's. I love it!
Happy 36th Anniversary to Peter & Peggy!! Hope you were able to relax on the cruise. I bet nobody bothered the oldest people on the boat ;-)

Finally Friday!

Those of you with Facebook have probably seen these pictures, but I thought I'd share them here for those who haven't seen them. Little Miss Personality - on a cuddly day.
Sometimes I think Claire and Dan are twins - other times, I think she looks just like me. But one thing is for sure, the eyes are Daddys perfect match.
Sassy Pants -
And she finishes it off with a little attitude. My parents neighbors have a swingset in the back yard and Claire knows exactly where it is. She wants to head over there everytime we are in Massachusetts. She loves to climb and come down the "chide" and she refers to the slide.
Claire is talking up a storm and loves to repeat the last word that we say. She is working on her couting and has mastered 1-4, but then starts spouting off numbers from that point. I think 9 is her favorite. Last night, I was cooking dinner and I looked over to see her playing with the clock in her kitchen, moving the hands and counting. She loves music and is starting to sing with us, especially Happy Birthday (getting ready for Dads birthday on Monday), and Old McDonald. The ABCs are coming along but we aren't quite there yet. Potty training is making some progress - slow, but we are moving. Since Sunday she has peed 5 times in potty, I think that's pretty good. Last night was the funniest because she peed and I started clapping and asking Dan for M&Ms to give her. She looked at me like I was forgetting something and then says Mom - jump! Oh, how could I forget - jump up and down and clap when she pees. So there she is on the potty laughing while Dan and I are jumping up and down in the bathroom. She always calls someone to tell them when she pees, so last night I asked who she wanted to call - her request was Paul. Paul - I didn't think you'd appreciate that call, but I thought it was really funny.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend - it's supposed to be beautiful!

Happy Mothers Day!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day! I hear Gail hosted a fabulous brunch at her place. Wish we could have been there.

What did everyone do for Mothers Day? Saturday night Andrea watched Claire while Dan and I went to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants - cuban food - yummy! We came home to a sleeping baby and a very clean house thanks to Andreas hard work. She even got up with Claire at 6:45 Sunday morning while Dan and I slept in until 8:30 - I can't even believe my body let me sleep that late. Dan started breakfast while I read in bed - it was great! Then I even got a nap later in the afternoon. Dan did some grocery shopping and we got dinner ready while Dan completed the game of Where in the World is David & Donnas car?? Parking is impossible in Hoboken and since their car doesn't have a permit I didn't want to chance getting a ticket, so we moved their car to Pauls hotel for the week. And for his help, Paul got a home cooked meal last night. It was a great day - I hope all you mothers and the Mom-to-be enjoyed your special day.

Only one more week of listening to Claire rub in the fact that... Nana, plane, boat water, and Pipere too. Keep rubbing it in lady!

Trouble in Staten Island

Not so sure everyone has heard the news, but Meredith, Andrea, Claire and I had one heck of a fun adventure yesterday. We had these elaborate plans to go to the NY Aquarium in Coney Island before picking up David and Donna from the airport as they were returning to LaGuardia from Aruba. Meredith, Claire and I met up with Andrea (in Dave and Donna's car as they left it here while they were away) in Bayonne, NJ. We were going to go through Staten Island to get to Coney Island and go to Nathan's hot dogs and then off the the aquarium. Then Andrea called Meredith saying that the check engine light was on in the BMW. I told Meredith it was no big deal since D & D told me not to worry about the lights, and then hung up. A couple minutes later, she called back and said the car was starting to over heat. Meredith said to turn the heat on and open the windows. She did that, but it didn't help. So luckily, Andrea pulled off (the last exit) prior to getting on the Verazano Bridge into Brooklyn. Good thing since the car started smoking. The three of us had no idea what to do so I (who has no idea about fixing cars) went to check out under the hood. All I knew was that something broke and that there was anti-freeze all over the place. I cleaned it up while Meredith and Andrea tried to figure out what to do as D & D were in the air on their way to the US. We finally got to calling AAA and they sent a truck. About two hours later, the truck showed up. We followed the truck to the body shop and found out that the mechanics didn't come in until Monday AM. Now we had a decision to make: we could either try to go to get to the aquarium (closed at 5:30 and it was now about 3 or 3:30), go back home, or hang out until it was time to pick them up. We decided it would be worthless to go back home and knew that there were a couple awesome beer gardens close to the airport. The three of us decided the beer garden was the optimal choice, so off we went. We had a couple pitchers of beer and some much needed food, as we hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. To say the least, we had a good time at the beer garden, and everyone around us loved Claire. Now for the fun stuff, time to get our passengers. We tossed around how they were going to take the bad news, and we were pretty much spot on. Donna laughed and Dave said "What are you gonna do?"

Then it was off to Andrea's place. And luck would have it, Paul needed to drop something with Dave, so he and Sarah came down for dinner. We had pizza, beers, and a damn good time. We made the best out a bad situation and got to spend time with people we don't get to see that often. But we'll be seeing Paul a lot more now that he's doing a job about 10-15 minutes from our place.

Now Dave and Donna are on their way home in our car and they'll talk to the mechanics tomorrow to see how to proceed. Good luck to their BMW and let's hope it can be repaired and it doesn't cost too much.
